I just finished this piece up and will box it for shipment to Japan. It has nicely figured Koa back and sides that were given a three color burst at the request of the owner. Ebony bindings throughout work well with the dark edge of the burst.

Thanks,
Kevin Gallagher/Omega Guitars

Wow, great burst...but such a shame over Koa...??To each his own! You have to give the customer what they want I guess.

Beautiful! About bursting KOA, if it's gonna be done, that is the way to do it!    We restored an old Victorian home we had when we lived in Michigan...all of the woodwork and moldings etc were painted a rusty orange color...when we stripped everything, it was all solid walnut! "To each his own" is right! Kevin, I didn't know we shipped guitars TO Japan, I thought it was a one-way street from there to here!

Nice burst Kevin, can we see the front?

What three colors did you use? I really like that combination.

I dont think its a shame to burst koa necesarily - why cause its expensive? with all the koa straight stained and laquered its almost a welcome sight - I love the look of koa and lust after an all koa OM for myself one day - no doubt it will have a natural finish, but mabye one day maple will be as much $$$ as koa and people will say wow what a shame to burst that fiddleback/flame maple.... JK wouldnt that be too much though!
I hope I never live long enough to see that, actually I take that back -> I hope we can get our act together as humans to replentish and manage all renewable resources so we have enough for any supply the world can demand instead.
Anyhow I think that is about the nicest way to treat it if it must be done.
Cheers
Charlie
